I had a ball last night making my own grubby candles. I usually sell items that look best with grubby candles but I don’t buy bulk candles and sell them with my ebay or bonanzle prims. I didn’t want to pay a fortune to buy a bunch of grubbies to use in my pictures so I made my own. These turn out great and are so easy! The down side is that they are for decorative purposes only. I guess that if you burn them the spices may catch aflame because they are not dipped after having the spices applied
So if you are iterested in making some of these great grubbies for decorating or for your prim pictures here is the directions and some photos of the ones I made last night.

Make your own primitive country grunge candles without the mess of melting wax. Just pick your candles, (I buy them inexpensively at garage sales and estate sales, any color.) Put together a mix of herbs, spices and other potpourri to create a grunge mix. (I actually used coffee grounds, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and paprika.) Put your ingredients on a sheet of wax paper on a flat surface. This is your grunge mix. Apply a coat of Mod Podge or other decoupage medium to the outside of your pillar candle, votive, or taper. Roll the candle in the grunge mix and let the Mod Podge dry. Repeat this process if you prefer more grunge on your candle. (I did two layers of grunge mix and a final coat of Mod Podge. )

To finish, apply another layer of Mod Podge. The last layer of Mod Podge dries and then your ingredients don’t flake off when the candle is handled.
